With a small f/stop of f/2.8 and 11-blade circular aperture, this lens allows you to achieve that coveted cinematic out-of-focus effect. But that’s not all – the lens also boasts up to 8 stops of image stabilisation, making handheld shots as steady as if they were taken on a tripod.

The RF24-105mm f/2.8L IS USM Z has a short minimum focusing distance of 0.45m (at 105mm) that allows you to get some really amazing close-up shots with magnification of up to 0.29x.
Beautiful Bokeh
The f/2.8 large aperture produces beautiful bokeh. It also enables a faster shutter speed or lower ISO for low-light conditions. In addition, its unique 11-blade circular aperture creates an amazingly exquisite out-of-focus effect.
Image Stabilisation
The RF24-105mm f/2.8L IS USM Z provides up to 5.5 stops of image stabilisation with its in-built Optical Image Stabilizer.
The lens supports Coordinated Control IS which provides up to 8 stops of image stabilisation when used with compatible cameras that have In-Body Image Stabilizer. This makes it ideal for handheld low-light shots, which typically calls for a tripod.
Smooth Video Recording
With the powerful coordinated stabilisation between the lens’s Optical Image Stabilizer and In-Body Image Stabilizer of compatible cameras, get smooth natural-looking video recording even while walking.
Focus Breathing Correction
When recording videos, a typical phenomenon that occurs is a ‘pulsing effect’ in the footage whereby the camera’s angle of view changes slightly during focus racking. The RF24-105mm f/2.8L IS USM Z addresses this by compensating for the change in field of view when the focus point is changed, resulting in seamless video recording.
Three IS Modes
Introduced for the first time on a standard zoom lens, the RF24-105mm f/2.8L IS USM Z has 3 selectable IS modes:
- IS Mode 1 for stationary subjects
- IS Mode 2 for panning
- IS Mode 3 for subjects with unpredictable movement
When combined with the newly improved floating focus system, the lens is able to suppress focus fluctuation when zooming to deliver outstanding image quality throughout the focusing range.

Aspherical Lenses
The RF24-105mm f/2.8L IS USM Z is the first to use replica aspheric lens with glass-molded (GMo) aspherical lenses to achieve superior image quality. The replica aspheric lens delivers superior surface precision while allowing for more design possibilities, which contributes to keeping the lens small.
UD Lenses
This lens uses four single Ultra-Low Dispersion (UD) lens elements with low refraction and low dispersion, reducing axial and magnetic chromatic aberrations to deliver higher image quality.
Air Sphere Coating (ASC)
Air Sphere Coating suppresses ghosting and reduces flare from your images through the innovative use of an anti-reflection technology that forms an ultra-low-refractive index layer on the elements within the lens.
